Target Information
Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 protein superfamily. The IL-12A alpha chain precursor (35 kDa) forms part of a heterodimeric cytokine, IL-12, with diverse biological activities. IL-12A acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhances NK/lymphokine-activated killer cell activity, and stimulates IFN-γ production in PBMCs. It plays a role in the differentiation of Th1 and Th2 cells and in the positive regulation of Stat4 phosphorylation. IL-12A signaling in innate immunity involves nitric oxide synthase 2A. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms interleukin-35 (IL-35), a cytokine associated with regulatory T cell suppressive activity.
