Target Information
RPS6KA1 (RSK1) is a growth-factor regulated serine/threonine kinase involved in the MAPK cascade. It regulates cellular proliferation and differentiation by phosphorylating transcription factors. RPS6KA1 contains two nonidentical kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates multiple substrates, including those in the mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) pathway. Its activity is implicated in controlling cell growth and differentiation. Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized.
