ARID5B는 AT-rich interaction domain (ARID) 계열의 DNA 결합 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 PHD finger protein 2와 함께 histone H3K9Me2 demethylase 복합체를 형성하여 지방세포 생성(adipogenesis) 및 간 발달에 관련된 유전자 전사를 조절합니다. 또한 B-림프구 전구세포의 성장과 분화에 관여하며, 이 유전자의 단일 염기 다형성(SNP)은 급성 림프모구 백혈병(ALL)과 연관되어 있습니다. 여러 아이소폼을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이체가 보고되었습니다.
