Target Information
Retinoid-related orphan receptor beta (RORβ), a NR1 thyroid hormone receptor, plays a crucial role in the development and functioning of the central nervous system, including sensory input integration and circadian timing.
Disruption of RORβ in mice causes juvenile ataxia, retinal degeneration, circadian activity abnormalities, and delayed onset of male fertility.
RORβ binds as a monomer to response elements containing the sequence AnnTAGGTCA.
An alternatively spliced isoform, RORβ2, is expressed in the pineal gland and retina, sharing DNA- and ligand-binding domains with the wild-type RORβ but differing in the amino-terminal domain.
RORβ expression has been observed in various regions of the mouse brain.
