Target Information

IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils.
It is involved in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial, endothelial, fibroblast, and eosinophil cells.
IL-17F may be secreted as a homodimer or a heterodimer with IL-17A, binding to IL-17R to recruit monocytes and neutrophils by increasing chemokine production.
It stimulates TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 production and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
TGF-β and IL-23 are required for Th17 cell induction and maintenance, which produce IL-17 and other pro-inflammatory cytokines.
IL-17F inhibits endothelial angiogenesis and induces production of IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1.
