Target Information
The FOXP1 gene belongs to subfamily P of the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family. These transcription factors play key roles in regulating tissue- and cell type-specific gene expression during development and adulthood. The FOXP1 protein includes both DNA-binding and protein-protein interaction domains. It may function as a tumor suppressor, as loss of FOXP1 has been observed in several tumor types. The gene is located on chromosome 3p14.1, a region associated with tumor suppressor activity. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
