RARRES1은 retinoic acid (RA) 수용체 반응성 유전자로 확인되었으며, type 1 막 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 유전자는 tazarotene 및 retinoic acid 수용체에 의해 발현이 증가하며, 전립선암에서는 프로모터 및 CpG island의 메틸화로 인해 발현이 감소합니다. 또한, 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체가 관찰되었습니다.
