Reconstitution:
Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. For extended storage, dilute the constituted protein in buffered solution containing a carrier protein (e.g., PBS with 0.1% BSA). Aliquot and store at ≤-20°C to -80°C.

Storage:

• Lyophilized protein: Stable at room temperature for 1 month; store at -20°C to -80°C for long-term, preferably desiccated.
• Reconstituted protein: Stable at 2–8°C for up to 1 week.
• Working aliquots with carrier protein: Stable for ≥3 months at ≤-20°C to ≤-80°C.
• Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

Interleukin-31 (IL-31) is a T-cell cytokine related to IL-6 type cytokines, preferentially produced by Th2 cells. IL-31 mediates activity via oligomerization of a receptor complex containing IL-31 receptor A and oncostatin M receptor, activating JAK/STAT and AKT signaling pathways. IL-31 receptor expression is induced in activated monocytes and constitutively expressed in epithelial cells. Overexpression in transgenic mice leads to pruritus, alopecia, and skin lesions, suggesting IL-31 as a potential target for antipruritic drug development.
