Target Information
Inward rectifying potassium channel activated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. Participates in controlling resting membrane potential in excitable cells and contributes to action potential waveform and excitability in neuronal and muscle tissues. These channels preferentially allow potassium influx, with voltage dependence regulated by extracellular potassium concentration. Inward rectification results mainly from blockage of outward current by internal magnesium.
