Target Information
The munc-18 interacting protein (Mint) family consists of evolutionarily conserved adaptor proteins involved in membrane transport and organization. In mammals, three isoforms exist—Mint1, Mint2, and Mint3.
Mint1 and Mint2 are brain-specific and bind to Munc18, essential for synaptic vesicle fusion. Mint3 is ubiquitously expressed, interacts with amyloid precursor protein (APP) through PTB and PDZ domains, and may regulate APP transport, endocytosis, and metabolism. Abnormal APP metabolism is linked to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
