Target Information
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to specific cellular locations.
AKAP4 (also known as hAKAP82) is a major sperm fibrous sheath protein localized along the entire length of the human sperm flagellum. It plays multiple roles in sperm motility and signal transduction regulation.
AKAP4 has also been suggested as a potential biomarker for breast cancer.
