Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP or DDIT3) is a small nuclear protein that can dimerize with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. This dimer inhibits the normal binding and function of C/EBP to classical binding sites, while gaining binding activity to non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 is not expressed at detectable levels but is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as exposure to tunicamycin, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents that disrupt calcium flux across the ER membrane.
