Target Information
The claudin superfamily consists of many structurally related proteins in humans. These proteins, including claudin 1 through 18, are essential structural and functional components of tight junctions involved in paracellular transport.
Claudins are found in both epithelial and endothelial cells of all tight junction-bearing tissues. They possess four transmembrane domains and two extracellular loops that form tight junction strands.
Claudin-11 is an oligodendrocyte-specific protein expressed in the tight junctions of Sertoli cells and myelin sheaths in mice.
