CIS 단백질은 SH2 도메인과 SOCS 박스 도메인을 포함하며, Cytokine-Induced STAT Inhibitor (CIS) 또는 Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) 패밀리에 속합니다.
이 단백질군은 사이토카인 신호 전달의 음성 조절자로 알려져 있으며, IL2, IL3, GM-CSF, EPO 등에 의해 혈액세포에서 발현이 유도됩니다. 또한, 프로테아좀 매개 분해는 Erythropoietin receptor의 비활성화에 관여하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
