Target Information
The ZBTB family of proteins comprises diverse zinc finger proteins containing a BTB (BR-C, ttk, and bab) domain. ZBTB9 (also known as ZNF919) is expressed in multiple tissues and highly in the cytoplasm of the placenta. While little is known about ZBTB9, other ZBTB proteins such as ZBTB4 bind methylated DNA and repress transcription. ZBTB7A acts as a proto-oncogene associated with breast cancer malignancy, suggesting ZBTB9 may function as a transcriptional repressor or play a role in tumorigenesis.
