Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine that can induce IFN-gamma production in T cells. The combination of IL-18 and IL-12 inhibits IL4-dependent IgE and IgG1 production, while enhancing IgG2a production in B cells. IL-18 binding protein specifically interacts with IL-18 to negatively regulate its biological activity.
