CNOT1은 CCR4-NOT 복합체의 스캐폴딩 구성 요소로, 주요 세포 내 mRNA deadenylase 중 하나입니다. 이는 다음과 같은 다양한 세포 과정과 관련됩니다:
- mRNA 분해 및 miRNA 매개 억제
- 번역 개시 단계에서의 번역 억제
- 일반적인 전사 조절
CNOT1은 촉매 복합체 모듈 및 다양한 RNA 결합 단백질과 상호작용하여 특정 mRNA 3’UTR에 복합체를 모집합니다. ARE(AU-rich element)를 포함하는 mRNA 분해에도 관여하며, ZFP36과의 결합을 통해 작용할 수 있습니다. 또한 TNRC6A, TNRC6B, TNRC6C와의 상호작용을 통해 CCR4-NOT 복합체를 miRNA 표적 및 RISC 복합체로 모집합니다. 핵 수용체의 리간드 의존적 전사 활성화를 억제하며, 배아줄기세포(ES cell) 정체성 유지에도 관련됩니다.
