Target Information
Synaptogyrins are a family of tyrosine-phosphorylated membrane proteins that include two neuronal members (SYNGR1 and SYNGR3) and one ubiquitous member (SYNGR2). SYNGR1 and SYNGR3 are synaptic vesicle proteins involved in neurotransmitter release regulation, while SYNGR2 is absent from synaptic vesicles and may play a role in membrane trafficking in non-neuronal cells. SYNGR3 is predominantly expressed in brain and placenta, and the function of SYNGR4 remains unclear.
