Target Information
Synapse-Associated Protein 102 (SAP102) is a plasma membrane-associated protein found in synaptic junctions. It contains three PDZ domains, an SH3 domain, and a GuK domain. PDZ-domain interactions contribute to receptor and channel clustering, impacting neuronal plasticity. SAP102 is involved in clustering NMDA receptors and shaker-type potassium channels at the synaptic membrane in CNS neurons.
Other neuronal proteins sharing the T/SXV motif may also interact with SAP102 via PDZ domains. nNOS, lacking this motif but possessing a PDZ domain, can associate with SAP102 through a pseudo-homotypic PDZ-PDZ interaction.
