단백질의 유비퀴틴화(ubiquitination)는 비정상적이거나 수명이 짧은 단백질을 분해 대상으로 지정하는 중요한 세포 기작이다.
이 과정에는 E1(ubiquitin-activating), E2(ubiquitin-conjugating), E3(ubiquitin-protein ligase) 세 가지 효소군이 관여한다.
UBE2L3는 E2 계열에 속하며, p53, c-Fos, NF-κB 전구체 p105의 유비퀴틴화에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있다.
