Target Information
This gene encodes a protein identified in a screen for genes expressed in metastatic cells, specifically mammary adenocarcinoma cell lines. Expression has been correlated with metastatic potential in multiple carcinoma types but is also found in normal tissues. Its role in metastasis remains unclear. Initially thought to be part of the NuRD complex, it is likely a distinct yet similar protein. Both share domains for DNA binding, dimerization, and methylation-related functions, suggesting involvement in transcription regulation via chromatin remodeling.
