Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Calretinin is encoded by the CALB2 gene located on chromosome 16.
It is a troponin C superfamily protein having six EF-hand structural motifs.
The EF motif allows the protein to bind calcium and function in calcium signaling, buffering, and modulation of neuronal excitability.
Calretinin is expressed in the mesothelium, mast cells, certain neural cells, hair follicles, and fat cells.
