Target Information

Connexin 43 (Cx43)은 gap junction 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 막 단백질로, 세포 간 이온 및 작은 분자의 교환을 매개합니다. 6개의 Connexin이 헥사머 형태로 조립되어 플라즈마 막으로 이동하며, 인접 세포의 hemichannel과 결합하여 gap junction을 형성합니다. Gap junction은 세포 성장 조절과 발달에 중요하며, 특히 심장 수축의 동기화에 핵심적인 역할을 합니다.
Cx43의 Ser368 잔기는 PKC에 의해 인산화되어 세포 간 통신을 감소시키며, Src kinase 또한 Cx43을 인산화하여 gap junction 기능을 조절할 수 있습니다. Connexin 43은 심장과 배아 발달 연구에서 중요한 표적 단백질입니다.

A related intron-less pseudogene, GJA1P, is mapped to chromosome 5. Mutations in the GFAP gene are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, oculodentodigital dysplasia, and heart malformations. Alternatively spliced variants of GFAP have been identified.
