Target Information
BMP15 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 15), also known as GDF9B, is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family, part of the TGF-β superfamily involved in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.
BMP15 is expressed exclusively in oocytes and functions as an oocyte-specific growth/differentiation factor, playing a role in oocyte maturation and follicular development.
Defects in BMP15 are associated with ovarian dysgenesis type 2.
BMP15 may serve as a marker for oogenesis and differentiation of human amniotic fluid stem cells into oocyte-like cells.
