Target Information

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene, located on chromosome 19, encodes a protein possibly involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and may act as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Multiple transcript variants are produced by alternative splicing.
