Target Information
Phosphatidic acid phosphatase type 2 (PAP2) was originally identified as a plasma membrane enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). Multiple isoforms of PAP2 were later cloned, and these enzymes were found to dephosphorylate several lipid phosphates, including lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). Hence, they were renamed lipid phosphate phosphatases (LPPs). The family includes LPP1, LPP1a, LPP2, and LPP3.
