Target Information
Regulatory subunit of the condensin complex, required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condensed chromosomes. The condensin complex introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms. It may target the condensin complex to DNA via its C-terminal domain and promote resolution of double-strand DNA catenanes between sister chromatids. Essential for accurate mitotic chromosome condensation during neurogenesis, influencing neuron pool and cortex size.
