Target Information
STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that acts as a key component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-α, IFN-β), establishing an antiviral state. STING may function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and is also involved in apoptotic signal transduction via association with MHC-II. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling through activation of the ERK pathway. STING is generally localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
