Target Information
The FOXI1 gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. Although its specific function has not yet been fully determined, it may play an important role in the development of the cochlea and vestibulum, as well as in embryogenesis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with the common cavity phenotype. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
