RAB30는 소형 GTPase Rab을 암호화하며, 세포 내 막 수송의 주요 조절자로 작용합니다. 수송 소낭의 형성과 막 융합 과정까지 관여하며, GDP 결합 비활성형과 GTP 결합 활성형 상태를 순환합니다. 활성형은 다양한 하위 효과기 단백질을 모집하여 소낭의 형성, 이동, 결합 및 융합을 직접적으로 조절합니다. 또한 골지체의 구조적 완전성을 유지하는 데 필요하며, 세포질 골격 단백질과의 상호작용을 매개할 가능성이 있습니다.
