Product Specific Information
The IM7 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of mouse CD44 (Pgp-1). CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells highly express this antigen, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression. CD44 functions as an adhesion molecule through its binding to hyaluronate, an extracellular matrix component.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells and splenocytes at ≤0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and epithelial cells of the intestine and breast. It serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. CD44 plays roles in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing. Expression may increase in certain carcinomas, potentially related to metastasis.
CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate its expression upon stimulation. The CD44 gene undergoes complex alternative splicing, generating diverse isoforms. Disorders associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus.
