Target Information
A cluster of genes, BAT1–BAT5, has been localized near TNF alpha and TNF beta genes. The Ehmt2 gene is mapped near the C2 gene within a 120-kb region that includes an HSP70 gene pair, all located within the human major histocompatibility complex class III region.
Originally thought to be two separate genes (NG36 and G9a), recent studies confirm it as a single gene. The encoded protein is involved in intracellular protein–protein interactions. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, with two fully described.
