Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids within the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are critical for reorganization during mitosis.
GOLGA5 encodes a member of the golgin family, a coiled-coil membrane protein involved in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations involving GOLGA5 and the RET proto-oncogene have been identified in tumor tissues, forming chimeric sequences RET-II and PTC5.
