Target Information
Rab11A is a member of the YPT-1 subfamily of Ras-related GTP-binding proteins. Rab11A mRNA is expressed in various tissues including brain, testis, spleen, heart, and gastrointestinal mucosa. In the gastric fundus, Rab11A localizes to parietal cell tubulovesicles membranes and apical vesicular populations in epithelial cells. It plays essential roles in:
- Resecretion of alpha-synuclein via endosome recycling
- Exocytosis of bladder umbrella cell vesicles
- Biogenesis of Birbeck granules
- Endosomal activation of PI3K/AKT signaling via G beta gamma trafficking
