Target Information
Glucose transporter 2 isoform is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in the liver, islet beta cells, intestine, and kidney epithelium. It mediates facilitated bidirectional glucose transport and functions as a glucose sensor due to its low affinity for glucose. Mutations in the gene encoding GLUT2 cause Fanconi-Bickel syndrome.
