Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serine/arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, which are components of the spliceosome. Each factor contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for RNA binding and an RS domain for protein interactions. The RS domain, rich in serine and arginine residues, facilitates interactions among SR splicing factors. SR proteins are also involved in mRNA export and translation. Two pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 15 and 21.
