Product Specific Information

The 53-2.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD90.2 (Thy-1.2), a GPI-linked membrane molecule expressed by mouse thymocytes, mature T cells, and neurons in CD90.2-expressing strains (BALB/c, CBA, C3H, C57BL/6, C58/, SJL, etc.). Cells from CD90.1-expressing strains (PL, AKR) do not stain with 53-2.1.

CD90 is involved in regulation of adhesion and signal transduction by T cells.

Each product contains:

  • 1 vial of NovaFluor conjugate
  • 1 vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤ 0.05 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Important Notes:

  • NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., PI, 7-AAD, DAPI).
  • Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for NovaFluor dyes.
  • Shipments include CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) for optimal staining.
  • Add 5 µL CellBlox Plus per sample before combining with cells.
  • For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL sample containing 10³–10⁸ cells.

NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton™ technology, enabling engineered fluorescent signatures with reduced spillover and spread.

Target Information

CD90.2 (Thy-1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein of the Immunoglobulin superfamily. Expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer cells, and fibroblasts. Plays a role in cell–cell or cell–ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other neural events.
CD90.2 is an 18 kDa plasma membrane antigen expressed by hematopoietic cells and neurons, highly expressed in connective tissue, fibroblast and stromal cell lines, and tumor endothelial cells. In mice, CD90.2 is expressed on all thymocytes and peripheral T lymphocytes.
