Target Information
TSPAN9 belongs to the tetraspan family, characterized by four predicted transmembrane domains. These proteins are involved in physiological processes such as tissue differentiation, immune responses, and sperm-egg fusion.
TSPAN9 has been identified as a platelet tetraspanin and a component of tetraspanin microdomains that include the collagen receptor GPVI and integrin α6β1, but not the von Willebrand receptor GPIbα or the integrins αIIbβ3 or α2β1. This suggests that TSPAN9 may regulate platelet function in coordination with other tetraspanins and associated proteins.
