THAP6 (THAP domain-containing protein 6)는 222개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 하나의 THAP-type zinc finger를 포함하며 두 가지 alternative splicing isoform으로 존재합니다.
THAP6 유전자는 약 36,528 염기쌍으로 이루어져 있으며 인간 염색체 4q21.1에 위치합니다. 염색체 4는 인간 게놈의 약 6%를 차지하며 약 900개의 유전자를 포함합니다.
이 염색체에는 Huntington’s disease와 관련된 Huntingtin 유전자, FGFR-3 (thanatophoric dwarfism, achondroplasia, Muenke syndrome, bladder cancer 관련), Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia, polycystic kidney disease 관련 유전자들이 위치합니다.
