Target Information
SYT10 is a Ca²⁺ sensor specifically required for the Ca²⁺-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles containing IGF1 in neurons of the olfactory bulb. Exocytosis of IGF1 is essential for sensory perception of smell. SYT10 is not involved in Ca²⁺-dependent synaptic vesicle exocytosis. It functions through Ca²⁺ and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain, where Ca²⁺ induces binding of the C2 domains to phospholipid membranes and assembled SNARE complexes, contributing to exocytosis.
