MA5-11599 targets Cytokeratin 14 in IHC (P) and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human and Rat samples.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide of 15 amino acid residues from the C-terminus of human keratin 14.
Target Information
Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments of epithelial cells, found in both keratinizing tissues (e.g., skin) and non-keratinizing cells (e.g., mesothelial cells).
At least 20 different CKs are identified and classified into two types:
- Type I (acidic polypeptides)
- Type II (basic polypeptides)
Keratin 14 belongs to the type I subfamily of low molecular weight keratins and pairs with keratin 5.
It distinguishes stratified epithelial cells from simple epithelial cells and is useful in identifying squamous cell carcinomas.
Keratin 14 is also considered a prognostic marker in breast carcinomas.
