Target Information
TLK2 (Tousled-like kinase 2) is a nuclear serine/threonine kinase involved in chromatin assembly regulation and other cellular processes such as intracellular signaling, protein phosphorylation, cell cycle control, chromatin modification, and DNA damage response.
TLK2 activity peaks during the S phase of the cell cycle and is regulated by phosphorylation. Inhibition of DNA replication leads to rapid loss of TLK2 activity, indicating its tight link to DNA replication. TLK2 is inactivated by phosphorylation at Ser-750, potentially by CHK1, and forms heterodimers with TLK1.
This nuclear protein is widely expressed in fetal placenta, liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, skeletal muscle, and various adult cell lines.
