Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are signaling molecules involved in regulating cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP includes:
- An extracellular region with MAM, Ig-like, and fibronectin type III-like domains
- A single transmembrane region
- Two tandem catalytic domains
It mediates cell-cell aggregation through homophilic interactions and can interact with scaffolding protein RACK1/GNB2L1, which may be essential for downstream signaling in response to cell adhesion.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
