Target Information
The protein encoded by SC35 (SRSF2) is a member of the serine/arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, which are components of the spliceosome.
Each factor contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for binding RNA and an RS domain for protein interactions.
The RS domain, rich in serine and arginine residues, facilitates interactions among SR splicing factors.
Beyond mRNA splicing, SR proteins are also involved in mRNA export from the nucleus and translation.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein and one non-coding transcript variant have been identified for SC35.
A pseudogene of SC35 exists on chromosome 11.
