Target Information

RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase essential for the regulation of various cellular processes.
It is required for the mitogen or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors CREB1 and ATF1, and regulates RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81.
MSK1 contributes to gene activation by histone phosphorylation and regulates inflammatory genes.
It phosphorylates CREB1 and ATF1 in response to stimuli such as UV-C irradiation, EGF, and anisomycin.
MSK1 controls RELA transcriptional activity in response to TNF and interacts with the glucocorticoid receptor NR3C1 to repress inflammatory gene expression.
In skeletal myoblasts, it is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress, and in erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it mediates Ser-727 phosphorylation of STAT3.
