Target Information
Zika virus (ZIKV), belonging to the Flaviviridae family, possesses a single positive-sense RNA genome. It is initially translated as a single polyprotein that is post-translationally cleaved into three structural proteins (C, PrM or M, and E) and seven nonstructural (NS) proteins (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, and NS5). The glycosylated NS1 forms a homodimer inside cells and is essential for viral replication during late infection stages. NS1 is also secreted as a hexameric lipoprotein particle, aiding immune evasion and pathogenesis by interacting with both innate and adaptive immune components.
