Background
Oncostatin M (OSM)은 interleukin-6 계열의 사이토카인으로, leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, interleukin-6 등을 포함합니다.
OSM은 다양한 종양 세포주의 증식을 억제하고 AIDS-KS 세포의 증식을 촉진하는 성장 조절 인자입니다. 또한 IL-6, G-CSF, GM-CSF 등의 사이토카인 생성을 조절하며, gp130을 포함하는 고친화성 수용체를 통해 신호를 전달합니다.
OSM은 염증 반응, 간 발달, 조혈, 골 형성 및 파괴, 중추신경계 발달 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여하는 다기능성 사이토카인으로 알려져 있습니다.
