Background
C-C motif chemokine 2 (CCL2)는 C-C 또는 β chemokine 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 다양한 세포(섬유아세포, 평활근세포, 내피세포, 림프구, 단핵구 등)에서 생성됩니다.
주요 기능은 단핵구 및 대식세포를 염증 부위로 유도하는 화학주성 작용이며, NK 세포 및 림프구의 사이토카인 분비를 유도하고, CCR2 수용체를 가진 호염기구에서 히스타민 분비를 촉진합니다.
또한 CD4+ T 세포의 Th2 분극화를 촉진하며, 죽상동맥경화증, 다발성 경화증, 알레르기성 천식 등 염증성 질환의 병리 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
