ADAMTS13은 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 계열의 구성원입니다. 이 계열의 단백질은 프로펩타이드 영역, 금속단백분해효소 도메인, 디스인터그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
ADAMTS13 효소는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)-cleaving protease로서, vWF 분자의 Tyr842-Met843 부위를 절단하는 역할을 합니다. 이 효소의 결핍은 혈전성 혈소판감소성 자반증(thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)과 관련이 있습니다.
