This gene encodes a member of the oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) family, which are intracellular lipid receptors involved in maintaining cholesterol balance.
Most members contain an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain and a conserved C-terminal OSBP-like sterol-binding domain.
This gene is imprinted, showing maternal allele expression in the placenta.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
